Public Institutions with a Public Conscience: Call for Endorsement and Engagement

To students, teachers, lecturers, university administrators, public servants, workers, unions, parents, families, communities.

In response to the roll-out of online teaching and learning by many post-school education institutions without adequate preparation, a group of academics across South African institutions propose an alternative based on a framework of Social Pedagogy.

This approach is consultative, inclusive, and sensitive to the contexts of students, teachers and their communities. It works toward a mutually supportive framework that will carry our pedagogic work through the current crisis, into a period of just recovery, and a more equitable future.
